On behalf of the Association of Centres for Social Work of Slovenia, in cooperation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), we are presenting the “Manual for Centres for Social Work – Working with Forcibly Displaced People.”
In today’s world, marked by complex geopolitical changes, natural disasters, and conflicts, Slovenia is also facing an increasing number of forcibly displaced people who find themselves in extremely vulnerable life situations. Since 1995, Slovenia has granted international protection status to 1,477 people, while since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, more than 11,000 forcibly displaced people have been granted temporary protection status.
The war in Ukraine has resulted in the displacement of a population consisting of approximately 50% women and 30% children in Slovenia. It can be said that temporary protection represents one of the most gender-specific refugee situations of our time, bringing specific challenges and requiring tailored responses.
